Day 1 - Initiatory school experience
Seeing a classroom through the eyes of a brand-new teacher happens just once, and it can be instructive. There are certain things new teachers can’t experience until they are out of college and in the classroom. And then there’s the knowledge they don’t even realize they’ve picked up until the first year is under their belt.
Here Begins the most awaited part. School Visit. Today 28-11-2022 me along 7 others from Malayalam, Natural Science and English Option went for our first school visit at TEMVHSS, MYLODE.We reached the school by morning 9 am. Classes begin at 9.45 with the special assembly.
We were seated at the allocated room. Headmistress and teacher in charge chartered our classes and I got 2 hours today for practice teaching. I was very much excited and happy and the classes went very well. I observe the class from Aparna Miss on second hour. On fourth hour I took the class on 8B begins with self introduction and we discussed some basic grammar. Many students presented their talents. On seventh period I took class on Sentence making.
There’s quite a bit I’ve learned, including making use of lots of important classroom technology, and getting to know the students on a more personal level, which helps them enjoy school more. As part of the induction program, we’re assigned a teacher mentor from another school. My mentor was amazing. I could contact her any time of the day. She would make suggestions for resources or things to try in the classroom.
The most important thing I learned during the conference was classroom management strategies from Aparna teacher. For a new teacher, classroom management is essential to create an effective learning environment.
